12 things to do when there's no power (7)

Electricity is a recent discovery that humans use in their daily lives. This incredible recourse provides us with light, tv, internet, and many other valuable things. Life without electricity would be hard, at least in my case. I wouldn't be able to watch the news on tv, nor see at night, nor get online, and chat with my friends on Facebook. Not only me but most people would also have a hard time without it for the same reasons. Because of these reasons, its important to conserve this resourse that we need in our daily lives.

When the power goes out there are many things you can do. First, you should light up a candle so you can have a little sight of what is going on. Second, you should look for people around you so you don't feel alone and have someone to talk to. Third, you should look for your ipod or something battery or charged-like so your not so bored. Fourth, stay away from anything electrical, like cables plugged-in or stuff like that. Fifth, don't panic nor worry about anything, there must've been a problem. Sixth, hope for the light to come back and laugh about it.

Not only that, but when the power goes out try to act normal or continue whatever you're doing, it's not a big deal. Besides that, call a friend from your cellphone if you have credit, so you both can laugh about it. Eighth thing to do to not get bored is play around with your family, hide something and make them find it without the lights. Nineth, make sure that your not the only one with the power off, that its at least the street or a couple houses. Tenth, don't stay alone in a room by yourself, you might get scared of your shadow or anything around you. Eleventh, don't leave the house until the lights come back on. Last but not least, do not go crazy and running around the house or building, its not going to help anyone or you, be careful with every step you take. In conclusion, these are the twelve things you can do when the power goes off to not be bored and to be safe.

Sixth Sense

While watching the video I was thinking about how much technology has advanced and progressed. I remembered when we all had VCRs and videotapes, now you have blue ray dvds that provide you with spectacular color and view for whatever your watching. Its incredible to see how much we can obtain from technology. I would want one of these because my life would be so much easier. Technology would do everything for me, I wouldn't have to do things by hand nor worry as much because technology is so precise. Also, things would be faster to do, see, and locate. If we want to take a picture we just make a shape with our hands and there we have our picture. If we want to know where your flight gate is you just use technology and there you go. Technology and its new advances are making progress in the world.



Technology has many advantages and disadvatanges. One of its andvantages is that life is so much easier with these new inventions. We can get informed faster and easier than having to sit infront of a computer and waiting. Besides that, the information we get is much more precise and sometimes it can make our daily life better. Not only that, but we get to interact with the physical world. We can mix things we do in reality with technology like copying information from the computer, grabbing it with our hands, and pasting it on a piece of paper. Even though technology has its advantages it also has its disadvantages. I'm scared to believe that if we use technology in our lives too much, there will be a point where we won't be able to do anything without it. Instead of getting up and and getting some water all you have to do is press a button. Also, people depend so much on this valuable source. Everything is done through technology, from information to communication with others. As you can see, there are many advantages and disadvantages, but we've got to learn how to keep it balanced.



There are many types of open source, and its an easy way to use other peoples ideas. An open source is a site that is opened to everyone, a site where people can use other peoples opinions. I've used open source many times. For example, Facebook is an open source where you can communicate with your friends and share ideas. Another example is moodle, teachers use this site to inform students the homework or create tests. People around the world have access to these sites and are able to use them the same as us. As many things in the world, open source has its advantages and disadvantages. One of its advantage is that people can share or require help from other peoples beliefs. Also, it lets people have access to other sites and be able to enjoy them too. One disadvantage is that people sometimes are too lazy to come up with their own ideas and steal yours. Not only that, but sometimes they take advantage of being able to enter this site and copy every detail. In conclusion, open source is good but also bad in many ways, be careful with what you post.

Winter Holiday

Starting winter break I went to Los Angeles to do some shopping for Christmas with my parents and my little brother. We stayed at some friends house in West Hollywood until the 23rd of December. We came back home and wrapped presents for Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, the 24th, many of my parents friends came over to the house to have some dinner. Around 12 am, my little brother, my cousin, a friend, and I lit up some fireworks. After that, we opened presents and around 3 am everyone was gone. The next day, on Christmas Day, I woke up early to open some presents with my brother that he had gotten from Santa Claus. Christmas this year was full of joy, happiness and presents, hopefully next year will be even better.


In between my winter break I spent most of the time at the beach. There was one day where I went over to a friends house and we tanned at her palapa. Besides that, my parents had some of their friends staying in a house in front of the beach so they wanted to go almost everyday. Also, a friend was visiting from Guadalajara so she wanted to take advantage of the beach. There were other days that were cloudy where I felt like staying home and watching movies without anyone bothering me. In addition, there were other days where I would go to the movies with my parents. I don't think I've ever gone to the beach so much on winter break.

On New Years Eve I went to Punta Mita to have dinner with my parents and some friends. My friends and I stayed there until the countdown to watch the fireworks with our parents. After that, my dads driver took us to Nuevo Vallarta in his van. We went to Marival to meet up with the rest of our friends. I got there, danced, sang, had a good time, and around five am I went back home. When I got home my parents were still in Mita so I was all by myself and couldn't sleep all night, I had a tummy ache. Around seven am, I got a visit from a friend so I wouldn't feel so alone. The next day the driver came back to pick me up and took me with my parents again.

Facebook Security

Facebook has changed its security measures since the 9th of December. From what I understand the only thing that has changed is now each time you post something you must click if you want everyone too see it or just your friends. I think this new rule has been created because many people are being able to see posts from people they don't have as contacts. Besides that, a lot of kidnapping is going on and with this its going to be easier to prevent it. In my opinion, this new security measure rule is much better and its safer for Facebook users. Hopefully, they will be successful and there will be less stalkers. This will effect the way we use Facebook in many ways. Weird stalkers won't be able to see what we post or go into our pictures even though we don't have them as contacts. Also users will be safer and have less preoccupations. As you can see, this will help Facebook continue in history.

Typing

These past days we've done three typing tests. Our first test was the 24th of November and it was of 25 min. My growth speed was of 34 wpm, accuracy of 55% and net speed of 19 wpm. The next day I didn't do as well/ My growth speed was of 37 wpm, accuracy of 30% and net speed of 11 wpm. On the 1st of December we had 26 min. to complete the test and I did much better than the two times. My growth speed was of 36 wpm, accuracy of 89% and net speed of 32 wpm. I think what I'm doing well is concentrating. The short comings of this typing tests are probably to make us more accurate when we write or to make us type faster and better. The difference between gross speed and net speed is that gross speed is the growth of my speed whereas net speed is the comparation of your speed to other speeds throughout the net. My goals for gross speed is 40 wpm, accuracy of 90% and net speed of 35 wpm. I'm positive that I can chieve this before winter break.

Me

My family are the closest people I have in life. My moms name is Oam and she was born in a little village in Thailand. She lost her dad when she was around seven years old and she lost her mom at 32. We try visiting her adopted sister every summer. My dads name is Marc and he was born in Marseille, France. His both parents are still living and we also try to visit them once every year. They both met each other in a disco in Bangkok, Thailand. They got married in my moms village and decided to move down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Thats where me and my brother were born, the closest livings in my parents lives.

My name is Emma and I was born in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I learned how to walk at two and I loved to play with my barbies. At seven I always liked making shows for people. When it was my birthday I would dance for people and sing. At 11 I stopped doing all that and growed up. I'm a young lady now, 13 going on 30. I had an amazing infance, I did many crazy things that I won't ever forget. My childhood is the best.

As a teenager I have many hobbies. First, I love sports and anything that involves gym and energy. I like playing, basketball, tennis, and soccer. Recently, I learned how to wakeboard and I am planning on learning how to surf. I don't really have a specific passion, but I really enjoy these sports. Another hobbie I have is facebook and msn. I don't think I can go a day without checking these two beatys. Of course, its not a very good habbit but it can be useful if you use it correctly. Not only that, but I enjoy reading sometimes. If you give me a good book and I really get into it the first time I read it, I will like it and say I like books. If you give me a book that I don't get inside the story in the first or second chapter I won't like it. As you can see, these are my hobbies.

Websites

-Paramore
Paramores official website is a little strange. It has a butterfly in the corner that doesn't really fit with Paramores style. Besides that, the colors are sad and aren't vivid. You can get around it very easily, the instructions seem clear. This websites media is lame. It doesn't have interesting pictures nor videos. If I could I would do things very differently. I would take the butterfly in the corner away and replace it with an awesome picture of the band. Also, put darker colors like red or black and more pictures and videos. I think this website could look way better than how it looks now. 6/10

- Gossip Girl
This tv shows website is actually not that bad. It has bright colors, green and white. It is very easy to get around it, the instructions are clear. The media is pretty cool. It has short videos that give a little summary of what is going to happen in the next episode and there are also some pictures that aren't that bad. If I could do something different to this website would be to not give out too much details in the videos so people want to see it more. Besides that, I would put more pictures of the cast. Gossip girl needs to learn how to hide juicy secrets. 9/10

- Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler always makes me laugh in his movies. His website represents his funniness a little. It is blue and has like a hawaiian style. The instructions are very clear and it is easy to get around it since its a small website with a lot of information. The media is good. There are some funny pictures of Adam Sandler, movies hes been in, funny videos, all sorts of things. If I could change something about this website I would put more color or images to the background. Its only blue and there is nothing special about it. Adam Sandler, keep up the good work! 9/10

- Yankees
The yankees are a very united team. Their website is blue and white and it has champions written on it everywhere. It is easy to get around it since all the instructions are clearly said. The media is great. It has pictures and videos of games, players, and even of cups and t-shirts that are being sold with yankees written on them. If I could change something about this website it would probably be to make it shorter. It is a little bit too long and there is way too much information. Go Yankees! 8/10

- Ricardo Kaka
Ricardo Kaka has always been a great football player. His official website is very boring. It is totally grey with a little bit of red on it and there is nothing interesting about it. There isn't any intructions and it doesn't tell you how to get around it. The media is not that good. There are some pictures of Kaka with his football shirt, a video, and a little bit of pictures. If I could change something about this website I would change everything. The background, the colors, the pictures, probably put a couple more videos and add some instructions. This website doesn't represent anything, it can look way better than how it looks now. 5/10
